On September 24, Carolyn and Dan shared their wedding vows at Overhills Mansion on a gorgeous fall day.
Carolyn and Dan met in college at UMBC (yay! My alma mater too!) and fell in love over shared interests, including a love of animals and gaming! These two have a sweet pet cat and adorable pet birds, and it is clear that their pets mean so much to them. They also have a GREAT group of friends; it is so apparent that these two are really loved by the people in their lives. They had one awesome wedding party – Carolyn’s bridesmaids were so, so nice, and Dan’s groomsmen were such a fun bunch (and so fun on the dance floor too! This was an awesome party!). Carolyn’s dad gave such a touching speech, talking about all of the ways that Dan compliments Carolyn and fits in with their family so well.
It may have been a warm fall day, but it felt like autumn with Carolyn and Dan’s gorgeous maroon fall color palette. And on top of that, we had the most BEAUTIFUL, perfect light on Carolyn and Dan’s wedding day. Just wait until you see their portraits!!
The day began at a nearby hotel outside of BWI, where Carolyn, Dan, and their wedding party got ready. We headed to Overhills Mansion, where Carolyn and Dan shared a beautiful first look and then did their couple portraits. And what GORGEOUS portraits!! I have way too much favorites – I had trouble narrowing it down! These two love to make each other laugh and smile, and that resulted in such fun, beautiful photos! Soon, it was time for the ceremony, which was held on the back patio at Overhills. After the ceremony and cocktail hour, the reception began with Carolyn and Dan’s first dance. Carolyn’s father, her maid of honor, Pamela, and Dan’s best man, gave such sweet and touching speeches before dinner – and then dancing began! Carolyn and Dan’s DJ, Shawn Johnson, was INCREDIBLE! Not only was he incredible, but he was special to Carolyn’s family as well. In fact, Shawn’s very first wedding as a DJ was for Carolyn’s brother and sister-in-law’s wedding! And Shawn made this such a fun party – lots of guests were having so much fun on the dance floor while others relaxed on the beautiful patio and porch. Just wait until you see the reception pictures – this was such a fun wedding! Kelsey and I were having so much fun photographing (and trying hard to resist the urge to dance!). :)
It was so cool because throughout the day, Kelsey and I realized we had so many cool connections to these two! Carolyn went to school with Kelsey’s best friend, Nicole (you can view Nicole and Joe’s gorgeous wedding here!), and it turned out that Kelsey went to college with Carolyn’s bridesmaid’s fiance! Not only that, but my friend, Kathy, happened to be working for Carolyn’s florist on Saturday and we ran into each other when she was delivering flowers! Later my friend Diane even told me that her daughter has been friends with Carolyn for years! Plus, Carolyn’s parents live just minutes from my parents. What a small, small world!
Carolyn and Dan are such sweet, easy-going people; throughout the day, they were so relaxed and it was clear that they were so happy to spend the day together – and so happy to be married! It was such a joy to be part of the day. Carolyn and Dan, Kelsey and I adore you both and we are so happy for you two! Congratulations!! Enjoy some favorites from your wedding day!
