I’m so happy for these two and so excited to share their gorgeous wedding! Lauren and Britt were married at Town DanceBoutique in Washington DC on May 24 surrounded by friends and family. It was an evening filled with music, fun, and love, and it was so unique and perfectly “them!”
Town DanceBoutique is a fun Washington DC club that has been an icon of the LGBT community for many years. These two were lucky enough to have their wedding reception at Town, since they normally do not hold weddings here. It was so cool to see the space transformed for Lauren and Britt’s wedding; Town is an awesome place and it was such a fun wedding venue!
Lauren and Britt met at ArtStreams Inclusive Theater, and fell in love almost instantly. According to Lauren, “when you know, you know” – and that is so true for these two. When Lauren and Britt shared their incredibly touching wedding vows, it was clear not only that these two were meant to be, but that being together truly completes them. There was so much joy and emotion during their ceremony, and afterward, their happiness couldn’t be contained. These two are SO happy to be married, and that happiness was contagious!
Not only was it such a happy, joyful day, but Lauren and Britt’s wedding day was so perfectly unique to them. Music and performing is so important to these two, and they made it a very special part of their day. Lauren and Britt danced down the aisle together to share their vows, and then the entire wedding party danced back up the aisle. Lauren and her maid of honor, Laura, did a performance together highlighting their many years of friendship (it was so adorable!), and the entire wedding party created another performance showcasing how each one met and how their lives have become intertwined. It ended with the six on stage tossing different colored rainbow scarves in the air. It was so cool!
And just as much as theater is important to these two, friends hold a very special place in Lauren and Britt’s hearts. After Lauren and I talked on the phone, she shared her wedding website with me so I could get to know her and Britt better. I was tearing up after reading their story! (Justin did too – he filmed their special day for Last Avalon Films, so he also looked at their website, but we read it at separate times and afterward, we couldn’t stop talking about Lauren and Britt like we knew them already!). Lauren’s maid of honor, Laura, and Britt’s best man, Rye, are like family to them; in fact, they refer to themselves as “The Fam,” and this group is so close. Rye and Laura were even there when Britt proposed to Lauren! And after meeting this group, I think anyone would want to be part of “The Fam” – they are such a kind group of people, and it is clear that Lauren and Britt’s wedding party cares about them deeply. Laura, Rye, Lindsay, and Katie gave such moving speeches; I think everyone was tearing up by the end! (I certainly was!). Afterward, Lauren’s mother, Sandra, father, and step-father each gave such touching and beautiful speeches as well. It is clear that this was such a special day and everyone was so happy for Lauren and Britt.
Another way that Lauren and Britt made their wedding unique to them was in the colors. Lauren works at Lilly Pulitzer and also LOVES Lilly Pulitzer, so Lauren and Britt had a very Lilly wedding! It was so much fun, and the wonderful colors of Lilly Pulitzer perfectly complimented their day. Lauren’s bridesmaids wore different Lilly Pulitzer dresses in the same print, and Britt’s best man had a matching bow tie! It was so much fun! Many of Lauren and Britt’s friends wore Lilly Pulitizer, adding even more beautiful color to their special day :) And to top off their fantastic Lilly theme, just outside of Town DanceBoutique was a mural of colorful, happy flamingos – which made for the perfect backdrop for Lauren and Britt’s portraits! These bright, fun colors continued, carrying through with Lauren’s beautiful rainbow garter and Lauren and Britt’s spectacular cake – the inside was rainbow!!
Lauren and Britt, it was such an honor to celebrate your wedding with you; you two are so kind, loving, and caring, and I feel so thankful to have you both as friends now. Congratulations on your marriage!! I am so happy for you two!
