I am SO excited to share Lynne and Paul’s incredible baseball themed wedding! Lynne and Paul were married at Lynne’s family’s church, the Holy Family Catholic Church in Davidsonville, Maryland on October 20, 2018.
This was truly a cool and unique wedding – and these two are so much fun! Lynne and Paul both love baseball, so they carried the baseball theme through their entire wedding. Just wait until you see their wedding!
Lynne and Paul started the day getting ready at the Residence Inn hotel in Annapolis, where Lynne, Paul, and their wedding party donned baseball-themed socks, shoes, and for some, even baseball-decorated nails! JThen we are headed to the Holy Family Catholic Church, where Lynne and Paul shared their first look and some portraits, and then it was ceremony time – and even their wedding ceremony was filled with fun baseball references! (Meeting the love of your life who also loves baseball really is a grand slam!).
Lynne and Paul wrote their vows separately, and neither had shared what they wrote with the other ahead of their wedding day. And yet as they shared their vows with one another it was absolutely uncanny how similar they were. Both also made strong references to Parks and Rec, one of their favorite TV shows (and mine too!), and compared Lynne to Leslie Knope. Lynne called Paul her Ben, and ended her vows with “I love you and I like you,” a memorable and beautiful line from Leslie and Ben’s own wedding ceremony on Parks and Rec. Paul had the same line in his wedding vows as well. It was so sweet, touching, and special, and their wedding vows were so meaningful. (It was hard not to tear up!).
After the ceremony, guests went to a will call booth, where they could trade in their wedding invitation for a ticket to the game! (SO CUTE!!). Then they rounded the corner where there were two ticket takers scanning tickets. Once their ticket was scanned, they could go through the turnstiles (that Lynne’s talented brother built!) and into the wedding. It was such an awesome entrance! Once inside, guests went down a hallway decorated like the inside of a stadium, then were treated to concessions – starting with containers filled with popcorn! There were even people calling out “get your ice cold beer here!” and passing beers to guests from trays just like at the game! As a guest book, everyone signed wedding bases for the couple, and Lynne’s aunt and uncle secretly had everyone sign a matted picture frame also. Once inside the reception space, guests had tons of great choices – an awesome nacho bar, complete with trays just like at the stadium and filled with chips, yummy cheese, jalapeños, salsa, and chicken; hot dogs and hamburgers wrapped in foil (just like at the game!); and cups of hot French fries, among other foods. Each table was decorated with a different player’s jersey, and basement cups and mason jars filled with peanuts. Seriously – these two thought of EVERY little detail. This was SUCH a cool wedding – and a baseball fan’s dream!
And Lynne and Paul were definitely not the only baseball fans! Tons of guests put on their baseball jerseys, team socks, and other MLB apparel for the evening! Lynne’s parents wore matching jerseys, too! It was so cool to see so many guests wearing their favorite team’s jersey on the wedding reception dance floor.
Their wedding reception was filled with fun moments as well. Lynne maid of honor gave a wonderful speech about their many years of friendship, and Paul’s brother and best man talked about their relationship (and the hilarious time that he left a grade-school age Paul alone to drive a backhoe!). Then, Lynne’s father gave a speech, which brought family and friends from all around the room onto the dance floor to hold hands around Lynne and Paul and celebrate their marriage. Then, Lynne’s uncle Vinnie came up to gift Lynne and Paul two shirts. In Lynne’s family, everyone gets a number – like a baseball player. Lynne’s father is number one, her mother is number 10, and Lynne is 11. So now Paul is part of the family also and that means he gets a number too: 110! I love this tradition! They are such a cool family, and it is clear that they are so, so close and have so much fun together. Lynne’s uncle gave them bride and groom shirts with their new team numbers to celebrate that Paul was joining the team! Later on in the evening, Lynne’s cousins and siblings put on a hilarious baseball performance – complete with running the bases, hitting invisible balls, and racing to the outfield. It was SO fun! And then the dance floor opened up and this party went late into the night – everyone was having so much fun! Lynne told me her family liked to do dances in circles, and she was right. It was so fun to see everyone dancing together, meeting new people, putting arms around the shoulders of friends, family, and new friends, and forming the BIGGEST Congo dance line I’ve ever seen!
Lynne and Paul’s wedding was SO much fun. I loved getting to know these two and their family and friends. Lynne is hilarious. She is so effortlessly funny – and she is great at getting everyone laughing. Paul is just as lighthearted and quick to smile – and to make others smile. They both are just such joy-filled people, and it is clear that these two are so deeply connected. Lynne and Paul, it has been such a joy to get to know you two, and Justin and I absolutely loved celebrating your wedding with you both! Congratulations!! I hope you two are LOVING your amazing honeymoon!!

Look at these fall colors!! Fall came late this year, and before this weekend, I had seen just about zero fall color, so I was SO excited to find these beautiful trees for photos with Paul and Lynne!

And then after the ceremony, it was time for the game! Everyone headed out of the ceremony to collect their tickets from Will Call, and then they passed through the turnstiles and into the reception!
