I am SO excited to share Zoe and KC’s GORGEOUS wedding today!!
Zoe and KC were married at St. Louis Church in Clarksville, Maryland on Friday, August 2, and then celebrated with family and friends in Thurmont at the beautiful Springfield Manor Inn.
Zoe and KC met four years ago at a training gym in Laurel, but they didn’t start dating until August 2017. They both spent the spring of 2018 traveling abroad in Spain; Zoe was studying abroad in Granada, and KC was playing soccer professionally just two hours away in Marbella. That Fourth of July, KC proposed with the sweetest surprise proposal, and these two started planning their special day!
Zoe’s father, Rick, thanked KC and Zoe’s trainer, who helped introduce KC and Zoe, in his welcome speech, and also jokingly called him out for setting these two up. KC also gave a speech thanking their trainer for introducing the two of them, and shared that not only was August 2 now Zoe and KC’s anniversary, but it was also their trainer’s wedding anniversary with his wife that day! They were honored with their own dance together to celebrate their anniversary. It was so sweet!
I was such a huge honor to photograph Zoe and KC’s wedding because I have known Zoe for about twenty years! Zoe’s family lives just a few houses down from the house I grew up in – and from the house I live in now in that same neighborhood! (In fact, on the wedding day, I saw Zoe’s florist arrive at her house from my kitchen window!). Zoe and her family are such wonderful people, and it was so, so special to get to know KC and to see how in love Zoe and KC are – and for Kelsey and I to celebrate with these two!
I’ve been so fortunate to have the opportunity to photograph weddings for friends or for the same families in the past, and it is SO fun to see familiar faces celebrating during the reception. So it was SO cool to photograph Zoe and KC’s wedding!! We loved seeing so many of my neighbors, including Zoe’s siblings and cousins, at the wedding reception (and so many of the “kids” I grew up babysitting that are adults now!).
Zoe and KC had their engagement session on a chilly but beautiful December afternoon, and I love that these two have pictures from such different seasons – winter and now summer! Their engagements pictures were SO beautiful, and their wedding day was STUNNING. Just wait until you see the pictures of these two! They are such a gorgeous pair, Zoe’s dress and KC’s suit were so stunning, and the weather and golden light on their wedding day was just PERFECT.
In the days leading up to Zoe and KC’s wedding, I kept anxiously checking the weather in Clarksville and Thurmont – where their ceremony and reception were, respectively – and every day it showed rain. Even the day before, the weather app predicted rain every hour. I was so sad! But on the morning of, suddenly the forecast changed for Clarksville to NO rain – but Thurmont – where their reception and outdoor portraits would be – still forecasted rain. But miraculously, it NEVER rained!! In fact, it was even hot and SUNNY! Just wait until you see their photos; I can’t believe that this was a day that was supposed to be entirely rainy!
Zoe started the day getting ready at her parents’ home, and KC got ready at his parents’ home – literally just minutes away! Everyone headed to St. Louis Catholic Church in Clarksville, MD for the ceremony, and Zoe and KC finally got to see one another as Zoe walked down the aisle. After these two said “I do” it was time for the fun to begin! Everyone headed over to the beautiful Springfield Manor in Thurmont for a fun and relaxed outdoor cocktail hour before the reception began. Zoe’s father gave a special (and funny!) speech, and then Zoe’s grandfather blessed the meal. KC thanked his trainer for introducing the two of them, and then Zoe and KC shared special dances with their parents. After Zoe danced her with father, they invited all of the fathers and daughters up to join them – it was SO sweet! And after KC and his mother danced, all of the sons and mothers came up to share a dance. I’ve never seen that at a wedding, it and it was such a nice idea. Then Zoe and KC invited their parents to share their own dances (aren’t they so thoughtful?) and asked their trainer to come share a dance with his wife – because not only was August 2nd Zoe and KC’s new wedding anniversary, but it was also their wedding anniversary! So cool! After the bouquet and garter toss, the party really began, and WOW – what a party!! This was a dancing group! Everyone had such a fun night, and Zoe and KC ended their perfect wedding day with a beautiful sparkler exit!! It was such a fun wedding, and a wonderful day celebrating two incredible people.
It was so wonderful to work with Zoe and KC’s wedding planner, Liz of Elizabeth Giles Events, again! I worked with Liz at Megan and Sam’s wedding, and she was so lovely, organized, and sweet, so I was super excited when Zoe and KC said that they were working with Liz! Liz and her sister, Jessica, made sure that Zoe and KC’s wedding was beautiful and that everything went smoothly.
Zoe is as kind and caring as she is absolutely beautiful, and KC is equally as nice, patient, and sweet (and he has such a great sense of humor!). Plus, like I’ve said before, these two could truly be models! They are such a beautiful pair!
Zoe and KC, it was such an honor for Kelsey and I to celebrate with you two. You are such a wonderful couple in so many ways, and we love you both so, so much. We are SO happy for you both, and we can’t wait to see all of the wonderful things that await you two in the future!! Congratulations, Zoe and KC!! Enjoy some favorites from your beautiful wedding!!
