I am so honored to share Amanda and Gordon’s incredibly elegant Anderson House wedding! These two were married on September 2 at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Baltimore, Maryland, and they celebrated with family and friends afterward at the exclusive and historic Anderson House in Washington, DC.
Amanda started the day at the beautiful Grand hotel in downtown Baltimore, where she got ready alongside her bridal party. The Grand hotel is right beside the St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, so when it was time for the wedding ceremony to begin, Amanda just had to walk right next door! Meanwhile, Gordon and his groomsmen got ready at his home, and then met at the church for some portraits before the ceremony :)
The St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Baltimore was absolutely stunning; the church was founded in 1692, and the building is filled with historical details and stained glass. These two shared a few words to each other, then their marriage vows, exchanged rings, and said “I do” before sharing their first kiss as husband and wife. It was such a lovely ceremony! Afterward, it was time to head to DC!
Amanda and Gordon’s reception was at the spectacular and historic Anderson House in the heart of Washington DC. Nestled between embassies, this 50-room mansion is an incredible historic site. Gordon is a member of the Society of the Cincinnati, which is why Amanda and Gordon were able to have their reception in this exclusive and unique venue.
When we arrived, we got to explore the space and then get some bridal and bridesmaid portraits, and then lots of gorgeous pictures of Amanda and Gordon – just wait until you see their pictures!! I just love the backdrop of the Anderson House, and Amanda’s veil made for the prettiest pictures! We even explored a few of the beautiful and unique spaces inside together for pictures. Then, it was time for their grand entrance to their reception!
The reception space at the Anderson House features a beautiful staircase, and Amanda and Gordon were introduced from the balcony overlooking the room before descending the stairs for their first dance as husband and wife. Afterward, Amanda’s maid of honor gave a speech, Gordon’s best man gave a speech, and two friends shared a blessing and a toast. Then, guests enjoyed a beautiful dinner, conversation, drinks, and the very fun photo booth before dancing began! The Anderson House was such an incredible space also because it provided guests with so much to do and see. During dinner and dancing, guests could explore the mansion and read about the historical artwork, furniture, and pieces housed there. Between dancing, the photo booth, and the history of the house, there was so much to do and see! Amanda and Gordon had a lovely cake created by a family member. In addition to their cake, they also had the cutest cookie bar, complete with Washington DC-theme cookies featuring the monuments, cherry blossoms, and the sweetest little pandas, plus chocolate chip cookies, brownie bites, and lots of other sweet treats.
We also were so lucky because the weather forecast for Amanda and Gordon’s wedding day called for rain the entire day (yikes!), and while it was cloudy (which is great for photos!), the rain held off until the end of the night! Yay! It literally did not rain until nearly the end of the reception. These two had such great luck in every way! :)
Kelsey was so excited to second shoot with me and meet Amanda because like Kelsey, Amanda is a pharmacist too! Plus, some of Amanda’s bridesmaids were also pharmacists :) I met Amanda and Gordon at their GORGEOUS engagement session in Mt. Vernon and Sherwood Gardens in the spring (you have to see their beautiful engagement portraits!), and I have been so excited to celebrate with them. Amanda and Gordon are such warm, kind, and thoughtful people, and it has been such a joy to get to know them and now to celebrate their beautiful wedding with them. Congratulations on your gorgeous wedding, Amanda and Gordon!! I hope you two enjoy some of the highlights from your beautiful day!
